Set your ♥ Free, by Julie

What is it for you?
Love, pray, hug
Smile, laugh, breathe
Kiss, see, giggle?

Surf, singletrack, ski
Dance, sing, write
Cry, sweat, nuzzle?

                           Read, absorb, paint
                           Capture, talk, touch
                           Ride, walk, lay?

Listen, sleep, express
Jump, feel, stretch
Knit, meditate, intertwine?

                           Melt, mourn, think
                           Excite, live, rest
                           Create, share, admire?

Squeeze, change, learn
Dream, hope, connect
Play, pause, care?

All of it…whenever, wherever, however, whatever. Moments that matter to our heart.

But with who?

Oh sooo many. We touch here and there, and every look, smile, word, kiss, hug, thought, intention: It all counts…mmmmmm.

We are all so different, yet so similar.

Life makes you turn around to see what you’ve missed the first time, and then you finally understand the true meaning.

Get out there and share your ♥.

The Gold of Friendship, by Gail Mahan

“Have you ever found gold?
Was it under a shining mountain?
Was it high in a gleaming castle?
Have you ever found gold just by looking in someone’s heart?

Gold makes you rich.
But one kind of gold
is worth more than all others.
It isn’t the gold you can spend, wear or hold…

It’s the kind you can find in a friend.

First you have to look for gold dust.
Maybe you’ve seen it
on the cheeks
of someone smiling at you.

Have you seen gold on helping hands?
On lips that say “You’re dear”?

Perhaps you’ve seen it
on the shoes of someone coming
when you need somebody near.

Sometimes gold dust doesn’t show.

Then you have to look closer and dig deeper.
But if you believe that you’ll find gold inside,
chances are you will.

If you give up too soon,
you may miss buried treasure.

It may take some time to find gold.
But it starts to shine
when you and a friend trade
secret secrets…

or dream silently together…
when you’re together sharing,
pleasing, caring,
in sad and happy weather.

When you see your smile
on someone else’s face,
you’ve just discovered gold.

For a friend is the most precious discovery of all.

And you’ll know that’s true,
when you know a friend
has found gold in you.”

This tiny picture book was given to my mom from a friend, then passed onto my two girls. They carry it everywhere as one of their “treasure” books, so I finally stopped to read it. I’m glad I did…

This is a quick pause to thank my sweet friends for the times they are in my life, who they are, and what they’ve given me. xo.

Between

“Still, I search in these woods and find nothing worse than myself, caught between the grapes and the thorns”
~Anne Sexton

Juxtapose. . .

☁ an ocean search, caught between the quietness below and writhing waves above.

☁ an urban search, caught between whiffs of a popcorn shop and past a raw smelling sewer cover.

☁ a sky search, caught between the silky, smooth air and jutting turbulence.

☁ a mountain search, caught between the ribbons of waterfalls and jagged cliffs.

☁ a road search, caught between freshly pressed asphalt and a deep pothole.

Expose. . .

me: caught between a sweet smelling rose and a wilted wildflower.

☁ between positive, forward thinking and plain back-ass-ward.

☁ between a dance with arms outstretched and laying curled up in a ball.

☁ between a decadent bon-bon and mincemeat pie.

Propose. . .

☁ peace on earth, passion with abandon, love like a dove, live like a soaring kite
